Veterans History Project

To get involved, call 706-235-8051.

The Rome Area History Museum is a proud partner of the Library of Congress Veterans History Project.  In the Fall of 2004 we began an intensive oral history project to collect the remembrances of World War II veterans and civilians.  The purpose is to collect, preserve, and share these important accounts of a transformational time in our Nation's history.

Many thanks to the Rome-Floyd Library for their commitment to this project.  Their staff and equipment have been a vital part of this project.  Members of the Marine Corps League have conducted most of the interviews putting veterans at ease.

The interviews will be transcribed and made available to the public as video and hard copy transcription through our archives in a permanent collection.  They will also be available at the Rome-Floyd Library.

If you or someone you know remembers experiences of life during WWII and would like to share them, please call the Museum at 706-235-8051.

This project is supported by the Georgia Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities and through appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly.
