Museum Begins Capital Campaign
The Board of Governors of the Rome Area History Museum are pleased to announce the beginning of a $1.9 million capital campaign to completely renovate the existing building and exhibits at 305 Broad Street. When completed during the second half of 2008, the new museum will have:

Planning for the new museum has already begun!
In November of 2006, the Board of Governors made and completed a request for proposals from leading design firms across the country. In January of 2007, Malone Design/Fabrication, museum designers from Atlanta, and Houser Walker Architecture of Atlanta were hired to work with the board and the community to design an exciting, interactive museum to serve the needs of the people of Rome and Floyd County. By July of 2007, plans will be finalized and made available for viewing by the public.
Museum Renovation Plans
Planning Phase for New Exhibits - $50,000
Renovation of building, including gift shop, office space, archival space, collections storage, public and community rooms, rest rooms - $750,000
New exhibits, including multimedia, introductory film, interactive displays (3,000 sq. ft. downstairs, 2,000 sq. ft. upstairs) - $1,000,000
Additional estimated cost to store and inventory the collection during the renovation (includes hiring a curator) and operate temporary store front - $100,000
Total Cost of the Project - $1,900,000
